WRCM 115 - The Lives of Others

This course will expose students to a variety of approaches to biographical writing. We will focus on intertwined debates about method and ethics in popular biographical media (podcasts, celebrity profiles, biopics, etc.) and in academic disciplines, such as history, psychiatry, and sociology. Students will be encouraged to do archival research and reflect actively on how narratives about the lives of others shape narratives about ourselves.
