HIST 337 - From the Great War to the Great Depression: America in the 1920sFC ARHU WADV 4 credits The Great War, the Great Migration, the Great Influenza, The Great Gatsby, the Great Crash. One hundred years ago, Americans’ lives were upended by a rapid succession of social, political, cultural, economic, and epidemiological transformations of profound national and international consequence. This course examines this tumultuous period in American history through a series of readings, analyses, and discussions aimed at making sense of it on its own terms, within the wider context of the 20th century, and from the standpoint of our contemporary moment. Students will also conduct their own research on any topic relevant to the period examined.
