PNTC 301 - Piano Technology 1FC CNDP 6 credits Morning lessons will feature equal temperament tuning theory and application, modern and historical keyboard nomenclature, introduction to organic piano materials, introduction to tone building (theory only), introduction to keyboard action regulation, basic action repairs, string repairs, and action center service. Afternoon lessons will feature an introduction to piano building, materials and basic Steinway factory methods of grand piano building, introduction to hand tools and sharpening, basic woodworking skills, assessing a piano for remanufacturing, pinblock replacement, and stringing. Only for students enrolled in the MFA Piano Technology Program.
