CRWR 232 - Fiction: Writing About WorkFC ARHU WINT 4 credits Work is often repetitive; fiction is about change. How, then, to write about work in surprising and provocative ways? In this course, we will read fiction that probes the ethics and intimacies of work, examining literary representations of passion, obsession, capitalism, refusal, protest, and social reproduction. In class discussions and a range of writing assignments, we will consider: what can work give us? How does work take from us? In what ways is work structured by race and gender? More broadly, how can we illuminate abstract ideas and moral truths about labor and society with clarity and nuance, even ambiguity?
