NSCI 112 - The Brain and the Immune SystemFC NSMA 4 credits Are you interested in general knowledge about how the brain works? The Brain and the Immune system is an introductory course that will dive into how neurons and glia (immune cells of the brain) work and interact during health. Then we will discuss how neurons and glia interact during disease states such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, cancer, infection, and mental health disorders such as major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. The goal of this course is to serve as introduction to Neuroscience in an accessible way and to improve your understanding of Neuroscience with an emphasis on active learning, writing, and group projects.
This course is appropriate for new students.
