DANC 119 - YogaFC ARHU CD 4 credits This course will provide students with a comprehensive investigation of yoga practice and theory through physical postures (asana practice), the use of breath (pranayama), meditation, and a review of foundational yoga philosophy. By examining the historical, cultural, spiritual, and health implications of yoga in both ancient and contemporary contexts, this course offers learners opportunities for self-reflection and growth through embodied practice and academic study. This course includes an academic analysis of yoga philosophy through literature review, and is supported by contemporary research in yogic understandings of somatics, mindfulness, mind/body wellness, and self-care.
This course is appropriate for new students.
